Description

Ghostmaker is the second novel in Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts series, expanding the history and cast of the Tanith First-and-Only through a series of character-focused stories framed by the regiment's campaign on the jungle world of Monthax. As Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and his Ghosts await the order to advance against the Eldar, Gaunt walks among his men and remembers the battles and tragedies that shaped the regiment from its founding on Tanith onwards. The stories range from the fall of Tanith to the Ghosts' early campaigns across the Sabbat Worlds. Through these episodes, soldiers including Colm Corbec, Elim Rawne, Ceglan Varl, Hlaine Larkin, Dermon Caffran and Brin Milo are given greater definition, while the regiment's rivalry with the Royal Volpone 50th begins to take shape. Originally developed from short stories published in Inferno!, Ghostmaker uses the Monthax campaign to bring these disparate tales together, creating an unusual portrait of the Ghosts as both a regiment and a collection of very different soldiers.
