Description
Hereticus is the third and final novel in Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn trilogy, following Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn as he is branded a radical and hunted by his former allies while pursuing the supposedly dead Inquisitor Quixos. When a routine investigation on Durer uncovers a trail leading back to an old enemy, Eisenhorn finds himself caught between the demands of the Inquisition and his increasingly unorthodox methods. His investigation takes him to Gudrun and beyond, where a series of attacks on his allies and assets reveals that forces from Eisenhorn's past may have returned. With his own retinue increasingly divided over his methods, Eisenhorn must uncover the truth while relying on weapons and knowledge that the Inquisition considers forbidden. His search eventually leads to the remote world of Ghül, where he confronts the legacy of an ancient daemonic power. The conclusion to the Eisenhorn trilogy brings together characters and conflicts from the previous two novels while pushing Eisenhorn further outside the boundaries of conventional Imperial authority.
