Description

Space Wolf is William King's 1999 novel and the first book in the Space Wolf series, introducing Ragnar Blackmane and chronicling the beginnings of one of the most famous warriors of the Space Wolves Chapter. On the death world of Fenris, Ragnar Thunderfist is a young warrior of the Thunderfist tribe when a devastating attack by the rival Grimskulls changes the course of his life. Mortally wounded in battle, he is chosen for recruitment by the Space Wolves and taken to the Chapter's fortress, the Fang. As Ragnar undergoes the brutal trials required to become a Space Marine, he must adapt to life among the Wolves while struggling with the primal instincts unleashed by the Canis Helix. His path also brings him into the Chapter alongside Strybjorn Grimskull, the warrior responsible for his family's deaths, while the newly transformed recruits are eventually thrown into war against the forces of Chaos. A foundational Space Wolves novel, Space Wolf combines Fenrisian tribal culture, the savage traditions of the Chapter and Ragnar's coming-of-age into a classic origin story for one of the Imperium's legendary warriors.
