Warriors of Ultramar is Graham McNeill's second Ultramarines novel, returning to Captain Uriel Ventris and the Fourth Company as they answer an ancient oath to defend the Imperial world of Tarsis Ultra from the Tyranids. A tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan is approaching Tarsis Ultra, a world whose people are bound to the Ultramarines by a promise made by their Primarch, Roboute Guilliman. Ventris and his Fourth Company join the planet's defence alongside the Mortifactors, an Ultramarines successor Chapter whose austere and macabre traditions differ sharply from those of their more conventional cousins. When the Imperial fleet fails to stop the Tyranid advance, the invaders reach the planet and the defenders are forced into a desperate battle for survival. As the situation deteriorates, Ventris and his fellow commanders must find a way to defeat the swarm before Tarsis Ultra is overwhelmed, while the Deathwatch join the struggle in a mission aimed at the heart of the Tyranid threat.
