Description

Xenos is the first novel in Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn trilogy, introducing Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn as he pursues a recidivist heretic whose trail leads from the worlds of the Imperium to an ancient alien text of forbidden power. After finally cornering his quarry on the frozen world of Hubris, Eisenhorn's investigation draws him to Gudrun, where an attempted assassination and the machinations of the powerful House Glaw reveal a conspiracy reaching far beyond a single heretic. Joined by allies including the Imperial Guard veteran Godwyn Fischig and Inquisitor Commodus Voke, Eisenhorn follows the trail of the Necroteuch to the edge of Imperial space, where the investigation brings him into contact with the alien Saruthi and forces him to confront powers far outside conventional Imperial understanding. Part detective story, part interstellar adventure, Xenos establishes Eisenhorn as one of the Black Library's defining Inquisitorial characters, while exploring the uneasy boundaries between the ruthless methods of the Inquisition, forbidden knowledge and the forces of Chaos.
